Sometimes, the GHSA reclassificiation is somewhat uneventful.

Only sometimes, since the group can’t seem to agree on much, or enough to go four years – two cycles – with little movement.

This round was not one of those quiet times.

Central Georgia has teams in 10 regions for 2026-28, compared to

The big reason was the consoldation, again, in Class A, eliminating divisions.

Little changed, though, for  one group of Central Georgia teams in Class A, who stayed there and remained basically with the same region opponents.

Re-instating Class 6A meant movement for many other area teams as far as classification, but not necessarily for region competition.

Of the nine area teams in the old 2-A/Division I, five are in the same Class AA region, while three others ae in the same AAA region. Washington County is again in a region closer to Augusta.

West Laurens lost Central Georgia teams in region play, and is stick with an area between Augusta and Savannah

Region 2-4A has six Central Georgia teams out of eight, reuniting some old region foes.

Region 2-5A will be interesting, with Perry and Warner Robins joining Jones County and Henry County area schools.

The GIAA made changes as well for the regualar season, with Central Fellowship jumping up in region play with some traditionally strong programs, like Westfield.

Four area teams make up the five-team 2-AA.
