Steadiness returns to Henley’s game
Finally, for the first time in awhile, Russell Henley had a relaxing round, so to speak.
He wasn’t perfect off the tee, but he was about normal – which is quite good – and avoided trouble all day in a bogey-free second round of the BMW Championship in St. Louis.
The Stratford grad shot a 4-under 66 to creep into the top 10 in a tie for eighth with a 7-under 133.
He’s in a group that includes Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa.
Henley had a quality day in a variety of areas, ranking fifth in shots gained approach to green, second in greens in regulation, and up to a tie for 10th in driving accuracy (71.4 percent), hitting 10 of 14 fairways.
He tees off Saturday at 1:06 p.m., with Maverick McNealy.
