As Central did on Friday, Rutland broke a long winless streak – 21 games, dating back to 41-14 over Kendrick on Oct. 27, 2023 - in stunningly convincing style, only a minute or two from its biggest shutout in a long time.

The total matched 42.5 percent of last year’s scoring total and is 32 points short of the 2024 points total. Rutland last rout of such proportions was 49-0 over Jordan midway through the 2022 season. Conversely, Crawford County fell to 0-6 against the Hurricanes with its worst loss since 56-0 to Brooks County to open the 2023 playoffs.

Northeast 39, Westside 0

Maybe there was a reason why Westside has played Northeast only twice in the Seminoles history, while playing every other Bibb County public school at least 13 times. The Raiders made up for lost time by handing Westside its worst loss by a local team, by far, and worst shutout by a Georgia team since 45-0 by Perry in 2021. It was Northeast’s biggest win in, well, only a few games, since popping Fannin County 41-0 in the first round of last year’s playoffs. It was the Raiders biggest win over a Bibb County public school rival since beating Central 61-6 last year.

Henley hunts top-10 finish at BMW

Wyndham Clark’s third straight round of 65 or better has cleared the deck a bit atop the BMW leaderboard, only two players within five shots.

So Russell Henley, and a few dozen others, look for a solid final round of the PGA Tour’s second playoff tournament, and some momentum entering the finale next week at East Lake.

Henley is tied with Michael Brennan for 12th with a 7-under 203 after an even third round.

The Georgia grad was strolling through a steady front nine after opening with a bogey. He started the back nine the same way and wobbled with three birdies and another bogey in a four-hole stretch.

His day began rough by hitting a pair of bunkers out of the gate for a bogey. A birdie situation on No. 13 became a bogey when he missed an 8-footer for par.

Henley can make a run for a top-5 finish, with two players tied for fourth only four shots ahead. He gets going at 12:39 p.m. on Sunday with Jacob Bridgeman
