Missed conversions doom FVSU
The Wildcats came back from a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to tie it with 9 seconds left on a 6-yard pass from Peach County grad Don Hudson Jr., to Myles Smith, but blew the chance for the win when with a missed PAT kick. In overtime, the Wildcats scored, but again failed on the conversion. Benedict scored and made the kick to win.
A scoring blunder by officials at FVSU led to confusion. Benedict scored to make it 27-15 midway through the fourth quarter, but the scoreboard read 26-15. FVSU scored and went for 2, perhaps thinking it was 26-21. The score was corrected, but FVSU still couldnât convert two PATs, one a game-winner and one that wouldâve kept the game tied.
