Hounds and a Gryphon earn Macon TD Club honors
Players from ACE and Jones County are the latest Macon Touchdown Club players of the week.
Back: ACE Charter senior quarterback Ace Hatcher gained 149 yards on 18 carries and completed 8 of 11 for 142 yards and two scores in the 17-7 win over Vidalia.
Lineman: Jones County senior linebacker Hunter Hardwick totaled 17 tackles. 9 solo and 8 assists and added 1 sack in the Hounds’ 17-14 overtime victory against top-10 Ola.
Special teams: Jones County senior kicker Jacob Watts averaged 47 yards per punt, with one down at the 1 yardline. He hit both PAT kicks, and finished the night with a 38-yard field goal in overtime to beat Ola.
Georgia Tech assistant Sunseri to visit Macon Touchdown Club
Vinnie Sunseri, in his first season as safeties coach at Georgia Tech, is Monday’s speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m., and includes dinner, awards, and the talk. Cost is $35 for non-members. Membership for the year is $250.
Born in Pittsburgh, the 34-year-old played high school football in North Carolina and Tuscaloosa, then playing at Alabama and getting drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL draft.
He played two seasons with New Orleans and one with San Francisco before beginning his coaching career with the Patriots.

Americans rally in singles to win the Presidents Cup for the 11th straight time
Maconite Russell Henley didn’t win his singles match on Sunday, but he never trailed en route to a tie with Nick Taylor in singles play. Henley’s best round of the week finished up a hole after the U.S. clinched the win. He never trailed and was 2 up for a few early holes.
But it wasn’t a big week for the rarely-mentioned Henley, who went 0-2-1 for a half point to finish at the bottom of the U.S. roster. International’s Nico Echavarria was a little worse, going 0-2.
