Central Georgia high schools among top athletics programs in state (with area listings)

Five Central Georgia high school athletics programs are among the best in the state in their classifications.
Veterans, West Laurens, Bleckley County, Dodge County, and FPD enter the summer with the chance to talk about their athletics programs finishing in the top 10 in their classes in the annual Georgia Athletic Director's Association Director's Cup standings.
And that's about normal.
Four of the programs finished in the top 10 last year, with FPD 11th in Class A and Stratford ninth.
Bleckley County dropped from first to fourth overall in Class AA year to year, the Royals still having the best finish. The girls were second, 10 points behind St. Vincent's.
The Royals have made the top 10 overall in their classification every year since 2010-11, the last year listed by the GADA website.
Dodge County finished fifth again in Class AA.
Veterans improved a spot to sixth overall in Class 5A for its seventh straight top-10 finish, West Laurens jumped two to eighth in Class 4A.
FPD or Stratford has been in the top 10 for several years.
Top-10 girls programs: Veterans No. 9 in 5A; Bleckley County No. 2, Lamar County No. 9 and Dodge County No. 10 in Class AA.
Top-1o boys programs: West Laurens No. 7 in Class 4A; Dodge County No. 6 in AA; FPD No. 2 and Stratford No. 10 in Class A.
