Stratford’s Barrow in major tennis final

          A few months after helping Stratford to the GHSA Class A Private state title, Samuel Barrow is rolling along on the tennis court again.

          The junior is in the boys 16 finals of the USTA Level 3 tournament at John Drew Smith Tennis Center Tuesday morning.

Mayhem schedule set, Pensacola visits to open the season

          Macon will open the 2018 season under new head coach Leo Thomas with four straight home games, beginning with Pensacola on Oct. 19.

          That’s the first of 10 meetings with the Ice Flyers.

          Huntsville, the winner of the 2017-18 President’s Cup, doesn’t visit Macon until late January. Runner-up Peoria comes to town right after that.

          Expansion team Quad City faces Macon once, and the Mayhem will travel.

Bacon’s King helps National all-stars in Coastal Plain game

          Macon’s Riley King went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI to help the National team to a 9-4 win over American in the Coastal Plain League all-star game in Lexington, S.C.

          Pitcher James Williams had a rougher evening, giving up three hits and two runs in middle relief work.

          Macon visits Savannah at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday as regular-season action resumes. The Bacon are at Lexington County Thursday and host Florence on Friday.

 

Coaches happy with Georgia Tech’s newfound initiatives

          The school has $125 million worth of projects on the list, and coaches are mighty happy.

 

There was logic to OU’s Riley and UGA defense comment

          Taken in context, as it was desired, Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley wasn’t dissing UGA with his recent comments on defense. Numbers tend to back him up.
