Henley off to a good start in the British Open

          Russell Henley had only one bogey, and followed with a par and birdie to finish 2 under after a round in the British Open. Story, roundup, and leaderboard in The Sports Report of Central Georgia, www.centralgasports.com

 

Macon loses offensive battle

          Macon had the first big inning of the night, but Lexington County had one more and later en route to a 9-6 win.

          The Bacon outhit the Blowfish by one, but had three errors.

          Zach Weisz, Cal Gentry (Perry/Georgia College), and Brandon Michie (Mercer) had two hits each for Macon, which led 5-1 after one but watched the hosts get five in the fifth and three in the seventh.

          Macon hosts Florence on Friday and is at Forest City on Saturday.

 

Mercer’s Kyle Lewis expects benefits from all-star game

          Kyle Lewis got to play in a big-league park and in front of a lot of people. He’s ready to do that again.

 

Mayhem sign a pair

          The Macon Mayhem signed forward Kevin Irwin and defenseman Jarrett Kup.

          Both played in Macon last season.
