Harrison Bryant got a little attention during the recruiting process while at John Milledge, but not all that much.
He’ll probably get a little more attention on the next level, the NFL.
Bryant has been named to the John Mackey Award preseason watch list, the award given to the nation’s top tight end. He’s one of more than 60 on the current list.
Camrin Knight of Georgia State, Isaac Nauta of Georgia, and Ellis Richardson of Goergia Southern also made the list.
Bryant caught 32 passes for 408 yards and five score last year, earning second-team All-CUSA honors.
Bryant was named to the preseason all-conference team last week, and the Owls were picked to win the CUSA East.
Washington County’s Hunt leads Sun Belt picks
Georgia Southern had six players named to the Sun Belt’s preseason team, led by senior Logan Hunt.
The team was released a few days before Monday’s conference media day.
The defensive lineman from Washington County was a second-team choice after last season, when he had 32 tackles, five sacks and 11 tackles for loss.
Other Eagles named: kicker Tyler Bass, running back Wesley Fields, offensive lineman Curtis Rainey, corberback Monquavion Brinson, and tight end Ellis Richardson.
Georgia State had wideout Penny Hart, inebacker Michael Shaw, offensive linemen Hunter Atkinson and Shamarious Gilmore, defensive lineman Marterious Allen picked.
