Brewers take control late

Milwaukee and Atlanta were in a nice, tight game for seven innings, the Brewers leading 4-2.

But the home team put three across in the eighth to seal a 7-2 win.

Atlanta’s offense wasn’t much, the Braves managing only three hits, two from Ozzie Albies, who along with Freddie Freeman had an RBI. The Braves had one hit in the the final six innings.

Max Fried lasted three innings, giving up four runs on four hits and three walks with a strikeout. The runs in the eighth came against Dan Winkler. Shane Carle had three nice innings in reief.

Milwaukee’s Jhoulys Chascin went seven, striking out seven with a walk and three hits.

#Braves have 3 of the top 4 National League hits leaders: 1. Markakis 108, 3. Albies 102, 4. Freeman 101. No other MLB team has two players with 100 or more hits./DOB

Tonight's starter Max Fried recorded 11 K and allowed 4 H over 6.2 scoreless IP vs. STL on Saturday. Only other Braves LHPs since '91 to notch 10+ K and allow 4 H or less over at least six scoreless IP: Avery (8/8/94), Glavine (4/23/91), Mercker (4/8/94) and Minor (5/25/13)./MB

Surely this will come as no surprise: Freddie Freeman is in #Braves lineup tonight./DOB

They're exploiting fact that Fried isn't holding runners close. Double steal meant 2 in scoring position for Kratz, and his infield chopper to 3rd drove in go-ahead run, 3-2/DOB

Ozzie Albies now has a NL-leading 49 extra-base hits in 86 games. That would have ranked as the Braves' second-highest total at the end of last season. Freeman had 65 and Markakis had 48./MB

Fried had 11 K in 6 2/3 scoreless innings Friday at St. Louis. Tonight he lasted 3 innings and was charged with 4 hits, 4 runs and 3 walks with 1 K in 60 pitches./DOB

Acuna hit in the fingers of his left hand by pitch in 7th, he's flexing them and staying in game./DOB
