Friday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.
Folty has five good innings, but there was that one …
Milwaukee did all of its damage in one inning against Mike Foltynewicz, and it was enough for a one-run win, Atlanta’s fourth straight loss.
That and more – Ozzie is fearless, Fried to DL, and more - in The Braves Report, in The Latest Coverage.
Savannah played Macon; you know the story
Savannah scored two in the top of the ninth to top Macon 7-5 at Luther Williams, and improved its record to 7-2 over the Bacon this season.
The Bananas got a one-out single in the ninth from Mason Miller and then a two-run homer from Cade Marlowe to take the lead.
The Bacon went down in order in the bottom half against Hunter Phillips, a Houston County grad headed to South Alabama by way of Chattahoochee Valley Community College. Phillips improved to 3-0.
Zach Weisz, Riley King, and Brandon Michie (Mercer) had two hits each for Macon, while Kenton Crawford drove in two runs.
The teams play in Savannah Saturday night.
Former Mercer standout Kyle Lewis rolling along, picked for big game
The recovery from the torn ACL is about over for former Mercer baseball standout Kyle Lewis.
The 11th pick of the 2016 MLB draft has been selected for the Futures Game on July 15 in Washington, D.C. That’s two days after he turns 23.
Atlanta AA pitcher Kyle Wright was also picked. Current Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna played in last year’s game, and played the entire game.
Lewis had some offseason surgery to deal with scar tissue in his right knee, so his 2018 start was delayed.
Lewis is in a bit of slump, batting .231 in his last 10 games, but is at a respectable .262 overall in 41 games, with five homers. He’s playing with Modesto in the Class A advanced California League.
The injuries have done nothing to quell expectations in Seattle for one of their top prospects. MLBPipeline has him as the No. 47 top prospect list.

Another All-America honor for Holt
D1baseball.com is likely the last media outlet to come out with a team, and its release this week of its freshman All-America team brought another honor for Veterans alum Gabe Holt of Texas Tech.
The infielder/outfielder made the first team at second base after finishing the season with a .349 average and 29 stolen bases.
Georgia catcher Mason Meadows made the second team.
Holt has earned the same honors from Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game, and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

How’d the Hawks do in some summer league action?
Top draft pick Trae Young is struggling, but that was expected.
The Falcons’ playoff odds arrrre …
In one case, not as good as you’d think.
