Bowdon 2, GMC 0; GMC 4, Bowdon 3, 9 inn.

          GMC was held to two hits and struck out 10 times in the Class A Public series opener. Makenna Talcott had both hits for the Bulldogs, who were held without a walk. The Bulldogs stayed alive with a thrilling nightcap win, Cade Bass opening the top of the ninth with a walk and scoring on Whitley Ward’s double to left. Bella Herring gave up a single in the bottom half, but stranded that runner at first for the complete-game win.

Dodge County 2, Brooks County 1; Dodge County 9, Brooks County 1

FPD 6, Hebron Christian 3; FPD 7, Hebron Christian 1

          The Vikings took the Class A Private series lead, thanks to a five-run fifth. Abbey Surles, Moe Register and Cardin Weaver each had two hits for the Vikings in the opener, Weaver driving in two runs. Karsen Ochs fanned 12 with four walks in the three-hitter, the Vikes aided by five Hebron errors. FPD kicked it around four times in the second game, but 13 hits and a four-run fourth overcame the defense. Olivia Parker went 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Ochs had two hits and three RBI. Cassie Sutton and Avery Stroud added two hits each. Ochs passed the 400-inning mark for her career, and struck out eight with two walks and a two-hitter.

Gordon Lee 9, ACE 0; Gordon Lee 5, ACE 3

          ACE was held to one hit, and committed three errors in the Class A Public series opener. Gordon Lee put it away with five in the third. ACE led 2-1 after four, but Gordon Lee put four on the board in the fifth of the nightcap to end ACE’s season. Macie Allen and Lizzy Mitchell had two hits each for the Gryphons.

Greenbrier 3, Northside 1; Greenbrier 10, Northside 0

          Defensive issues led to two unearned runs for Greenbrier in the opener. Celena Luna fanned three with no walk in taking the first-game 6A loss. Madelyne Lee had two of Northside’s five hits. The Eagles were no-hit in the second game, ending their season.

Hampton 8, Howard 0

          Hampton ended the Huskies’ season, with a no-hitter. Hampton led 2-0 after four but clinched it with six in the fifth.

Harlem 10, Bleckley County 7; Harlem 8, Bleckley County 0

          The Royals staged a nice comeback with six in the fourth to pull within 9-6, but Harlem held on. Riley Edge had three hits and two RBI and Macey Haley three RBI for the Royals. Bleckley County managed three hits but had five errors in the nightcap to end the season. Five of Harlem’s runs were unearned.

Houston County 13, Effingham County 6; Houston County 7, Effingham County 3

          Houston County led from the start and sealed it late with four in the sixth, taking advantage of three EC errors on the road. Rylee Lamb went six innings and Olivia Brown finished it. Lauren Ross drove in three runs with three hits and Kenly Sullivan three on two. Alice Thomas and De’Jah Dunn added two hits each, Dunn driving in a pair of runs. The Bears clinched the nightcap with four in the sixth, the hosts getting two back in the top of the seventh. Kenly Sullivan had a homer and double en route to a 3-for-4 game and five RBI. Madi Campbell had three hits and two runs, and Makayla Krepps had three hits. Brown threw a complete-game seven hitter with four strikeouts and two walks.

Monticello 8, Pepperell 4; Monticello 3, Pepperell 0

Perry 2, Eastside 1, 8 inn.; Eastside 5, Perry 2

          Abby Ussery opened the top of the eighth with a double, advanced on Allison Peavy’s grounder, and came in with the lead run on Reagan Hughes’ single to left. Then Hughes gave up a leadoff walk in the bottom half before retiring Eastside in order. Terra Odom led Perry with three hits and Ussery added two. Hughes threw a five-hitter, with two strikeouts and two walks. Perry batters were fanned 11 times. Eastside forced a third game with a huge three-run seventh after Perry tied it at 2 in the bottom of the sixth. The Panthers, who had three errors, were outhit by five. Peavy and Harley Crumley had two hits each for Perry.

Schley County 11, Hawkinsville 5; Schley County 14, Hawkinsville 4

Stratford 9, Landmark Christian 1; Stratford 9, Landmark Christian 2

Tattnall 8, Christian Heritage 6; Tattnall 11, Christian Heritage 3

          The Trojans were all but matched by the visitors early on until a three-run fourth, Christian Heritage scoring twice in the eighth in a rally that came up short despite outhitting Tattnall 10-7. Courtney Ball went 2-for-2 with three RBI and four runs, Logan Oller adding two hits and Jaelyn Darley three runs. The Trojans bolted out to a 5-0 lead – sparked by doubles from Kenna Epps and Madyson Atwater - after one in the nightcap, watched the lead cut to 6-3, and then pulled away in the fifth and sixth. Courtney Ball and Epps had three hits each, Logan Childs and Kaitlyn Hallman two each, with Julia Bridgeman driving in four runs. Epps threw a two-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks for the win.
