Macon takes down Savannah on the road

A two-run fourth inning held up as Macon beat Savannah 2-1 at Grayson Stadium.

Wyatt Beakler went six innings for the win, fanning four with a walk and three hits. Bryce Bowen threw two no-hit innings and Chris Rolick got his fourth save, the relievers teaming for four strikeouts and no walks.

Josh Nowak had two of Macon’s five hits.

Alex Canty’s one-out single was followed by a walk to Nathan Schreckengost in the fourth. An error on a fielder’s choice loaded the bases, and Cory Bivins (GMC) brought in a run with a walk. Nowak followed with an RBI single to left-center.

Macon has now won four straight over Savannah: 15-9, 6-1, 9-3, and Saturday. The Bacon have a two-game lead over Savannah in the South.

Macon is at Savannah on Sunday, at Gastonia on Monday, and then hosts Gastonia on Tuesday.
