JaQues Evans had TD runs of 1 and 25 yards, Zion Kemp’s 19-yard run less than three minutes in getting the Irish going. John Potter hit the three PATs. Dublin had gained 144 yards rushing while holding ECI to minus 4 to that point, on only three more snaps.

Gainesville 27, Mary Persons 21
The Bulldogs turned a late first-quarter 3-0 deficit into a 7-3 lead on a long run, and added a scoring pass for a 14-3 second quarter lead only for Gainesville to storm back for a 17-14 halftime lead. The Red Elephants added a field goal three minutes into the third and then converted a Bulldog fumble near midfield into points and a 27-14 lead midway through the third. Mary Persons got a long kickoff return for a touchdown from Enrico Harden right after that, but Gainesville held on to avenge last year’s 42-0 loss.

Northside 46, Centennial 13
The Eagles took care of business on a night when they honored Mike Davis, the late longtime Northside radio announcer. It was the debut of former Warner Robins assistant Shane Sams has head coach at Centennial. The Eagles led 16-7 at halftime, and put it away with a dominant 21-0 fourth quarter. Northside outgained Centennial 429-229 on 13 more snaps. Mason Ford was 9 for 21 for 76 yards and a pick in his debut at quarterback, but he went wild for 178 yards on 15 carries and three yards in running the option quite well. Jalen Cephus added 55 yards on four carries and DeAndre McKenzie 52 on 10. Adam Lemond had a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter. The teams basically split 22 penalties for 163 yards, and the Eagles racked up 25 first downs to 11 for Centennial.

Pelham 32, Macon County 6

Tattnall Our 55, Lady of Mercy 15
The Trojans won this meeting last year 59-15.

Toombs County 14, Twiggs County 0 (tentatively a forfeit for Toombs County)
The game was stopped when reportedly Twiggs County got on the bus and refused to play, play after another lightning delay, in the first quarter, the night ending at 11:05 p.m.
“The second time it was interrupted, their coach, he wanted to go home. We wanted to stay and continue to play the game, and then we elected to even try to play the game (Saturday) morning, but they didn’t want to do that either,” Toombs County head coach Richie Marsh told Y101-FM, as per Toombsnow1.com. “The way we see it is, they have a choice of either taking the forfeit at 14-0, because they have the option to do that being they were the team with the lesser points once the interruption, once the delay happened.
“We think it’s over, we think it’s a 14-0 ballgame, we do not have any open days, open weeks that match up. I think (the GHSA) is going to make ‘em complete the game at what the score was.”

Treutlen 31, ACE 0

Trinity Christian-Sharpburg 15, Northeast 13

Veterans 48, Upson-Lee 13
The Warhawks led 38-13 at the half, and have won 78-13 in the past two meetings.

It gave first-year head coach Marquis Westbrook an impressive win in his debut.
