Monday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.
GHSA has a working reclassification meeting
Reclassification to a normal and mild step forward with a committee meeting Monday morning in Thomaston.
A motion to drop the multiplier – private schools in AA on up have enrollment adjustment based on out-of-zone students – from 2.0 to 1.75 was defeated 12-3.
A discussion on charter schools and the multiplier led to a passing vote on treating charters the same as privates.
The multiplier for single-gender schools applies only to the actual enrollment figure.
The multiplier and its impact regarding homeless, foreign exchange, and special education students was discussed, the committee opening the door to appeals if a school was moved up a classification.
Football, football, football
ICYMI from Friday: * Scouting reports on all Central Georgia GHSA and GISA teams. All.
* There’s a good chunk of new head coaches in the area, from brand new to the area to familiar to promotions.
* The preseason All-Central Georgia team – one team – plus Another Fantastic Fifteen (regardless of position). You think picking three teams is tough? One set on offense and defense and kicker is even tougher when some positions are loaded with talent.
* Predictions for week 1.
* First statewide polls.

Braves Report
A pitchers duel at Coors Field?
Wow.
But that’s what fans got in an afternoon makeup game, with starters Julio Teheran and Tim Melville.
Neither was near getting the decision. Colorado scored one in the eighth, and then Atlanta answered in the top of the ninth, only for Ryan McMahon to deliver the walk-off two-run homer for a 3-1 Colorado win.
Dansby Swanson rejoined the Braves and got the start at shortstop, going 0 for 4.
Chris Martin took over for Luke Jackson in the eighth, and gave up the lead run on double, grounder, and fly out.
Adeiny Hechavarria tied it with a one-out fly to right to bring in ever-present Billy Hamilton.
Anthony Swarzak lasted a five-pitch walk to Nolan Arendo to open the ninth. Jerry Blevins got an out, but McMahon sent a 1-1 pitch off the top of the right-field wall for the walk-off win.
Teheran fanned four with three walks and three hits in six innings. Melville went five with five hits, six strikeouts and three walks in his Coors Field debut.
