ECU’s day went downhill after getting a pick-6 on the first play, Georgia State promptly answering and taking over from there, with 35 first-half points.
The Pirates' three touchdowns came on a pick-six, a fake field goal and a blocked punt, no points coming against the GSU defense by the ECU offense.
Georgia Southern 35, Louisiana-Monroe 30
ULM came a long way back only to fall inches short Saturday night at Malone Stadium.
As time expired, quarterback Colby Suits was stopped short on a first-and-goal scramble from the 9 and the Warhawks dropped a 35-30 decision to Georgia Southern.
The game appeared headed for a blowout in the third quarter when Georgia Southern blocked a punt and scored for an 18-point lead.
ULM got two big stops on defense and scored on two straight possessions to rally.
Veterans grad Java’n Singletary again led the defense, with six tackles.
Darion Anderson (Houston County) had a catch for seven yards. Northside alum Caleb Kelly started on the offensive line.

Quarterback Stetson Bennett completed 17 passes on 28 attempts for 240 yards with a touchdown in his first career start as fourth-ranked Georgia thumped Auburn at Sanford Stadium.
Georgia’s defense made life tough for Auburn QB Bo Nix all night.He was 21 of 40 for 177 yards with one interception and three sacks,getting glittle help from a running game held to 39 yards on 22 rushes.
Peach County grad Kearis Jackson had a huge game, with a team-high and career-high nine catches for 147 yards.
Mary Persons alum Malik Herring was credited with three tackles, Upson-Lee’s Travon Walker with two. Houston Countys’ Trey Hill started on the line.
Houston County linebacker Wesley Steiner made his debut for Auburn, but didn’t register any stats. Warner Robins’ Tyler Fromm didn’t play.
