Thursday's Central Georgia's signings
Signings continued Thursday in Central Georgia, including in Perry where Westfield celebrated one of its top softball players in recent memory.
Ellie Williams started for five years and helped Westfield to four straight GISA Class AAA state titles, including last month with another sweep of John Milledge.
She signed on Thursday with Valdosta State,
The Blazers have had a solid Central Georgia presence in recent years, with the 2020 roster including Veterans' Avery Lamb and Warner Robins' Ryla Christian.
Valdosta State won the 2012 national title with FPD's Morgan and Fran Johnson, and Houston County's April Collins and Brianna Hancock. The Blazers have reached the NCAA South Regional more than a dozen straight years.
That doesn't include in 2020, when the season was stopped in March with the Blazers at 18-5 overall.
Williams brings a hefty resume: four-year all-stater, batted .443 as a senior with five doubles and nine homers, plus 35 RBI and 44 runs. She is the program leader with 30 homers.
