Thursday's Daily News 'n Notes: New tennis boss for Macon-Bibb; NFL, MLB, national, and more

Thursday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media. Updates will be noted, so check back.
Macon-Bibb tennis facilities get a new boss
Amy Pazahanick’s timing wasn’t so lucky.
The Brookwood grad was named Macon-Bibb’s tennis manager on Wednesday, taking over amid a period of empty courts now under her management.
And she knows Macon.
“I am looking forward to building upon the Macon tennis legacy and giving back to the town that created me,” she posted on her Facebook page Wednesday. “And to Darrell McDowell for looking after me for countless hours when my mom was playing matches or dropped me off at John Drew Smith Tennis Center!”
Pazahanick is already busy as the head of the Agape Tennis Academy and Agate Tennis Foundation, and now adds overseeing action at the John Drew Tennis Center, Tattnall Square, and the Randy Stephens Tennis Center, the new complex open in south Bibb County.
Pazahanick’s college career started at Georgia Southern and finished at Coastal Carolina. Along the way, she ranked in the top 50 nationally and competed in the NCAA championships.
After that, life got much busier. She founded the Agape Tennis Academy in 2012, was the state tennis director of the year in 2017, led the state’s pro tennis association program of the year in 2018, to name a few items.
The foundation and academy prioritize a variety of programs and workshops, as well as involvement in the community and the management of other facilities.
“I am excited about all three tennis centers and our plans to bring first class management, coaching, professionalism, customer service, programming, concessions, and pro shop services to each location,” she wrote on Facebook. “The journey of managing three Macon-Bibb County tennis centers is just beginning.”
