Wednesday's Daily News 'n Notes: GHSA opens locker rooms; MdS signing; Peach Belt moves; MLB gets started; and more

Wednesday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.
GHSA’s latest adjustment will inspire joy
It’ll be a long time before GHSA coaches and players take locker rooms for granted.
They’ve been off-limits since the start of guidelines regarding COVID-19
As expected, Wednesday’s regular meeting between the GHSA and its Sports Medicine Advisory Council led to more updates to the football workout routine, and other fall sports.
There is no longer a limit to the numbers in groups, a change from 50 people per group. The GHSA advises still putting a number on groups.
And locker rooms – for changing, not congregating – are now open, but must be cleaned and sanitized between uses.
Football’s official conditioning week starts on Monday, with pad practices beginning on Aug. 1, also the date when softball, cross country, volleyball, and cheerleading can start.
