Henley makes the cut at the PGA Championship

A day after ending a round with some momentum, Russell Henley went a little bit in the other direction n the second round of the PGA Championship.

But in the big picture, it didn’t matter. A bogey on the final hole Friday didn’t keep Henley from making that cut at the major.

Henley’s second-round 69 put him at even for the tournament and in a tie for 44th, easily making the cut. The cutline was 1-over, which sent home early Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler, Marc Leishman, Jason Dufner, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Na, Tiger Woods, Kevin Kisner, Harris English, and Joaquin Niemann, among others.

Henley entered the tournament with a Fed Cup ranking of 122, and is in a group at 140 with Ryan Palmer, Billy Horschel, Cameron Smith, Tom Hoge, and Tiger Woods.

Henley - who tees off at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with Hoge - had a bogey and two birdies on the front nine, and had a settled into a steady back nine with a birdie on 4 before ending with a bogey on 9.

Haotong Li scooted into the lead at 132, while Tommy Fleetwood sliced six shots off to move way up into a tie for second with first-round co-leader Jason Day and Brooks Koepka, among others, two shots back.

First-round co-leader Brendon Todd dropped into a tie for eighth, three strokes back.

Big night for Deming

Austin Deming went 3 for 4 with five RBI from the cleanup spot to lead the Bacon past the Eggs 16-7.

Carson Crowe added two hits for the Bacon. Deming was a triple from hitting for the cycle. Trevor Austin added three RBI. Noah Mendlinger (Georgia College), Billy Hancock,  and Brandon Bellflower (John Milledge) had two hits each for the Eggs. Cal Beardsley struck out six

The Eggs and Bacon play Saturday, with Macon at Lexington County on Sunday and back home against Savannah on Tuesday.
