Around/About Central Georgia

Struggles drop Henley from a real shot at PGA

There are many seats on the roller coaster of a golf major, and Russell Henley grabbed a seat.

Henley seemed destined to enter the final day of the PGA Championship in San Francisco among an extended group of contenders, thanks to birdies on three of his first seven holes.

The rest of the way was not as much fun, and Henley is tied for 52nd entering the final day.

Among those joining Henley at a 1-over 211: Louis Oosthuizen, Phil Mickelson, and Billy Horschel.

Henley is 10 strokes back of Dustin Johnson, who surged ahead with a birdie-heavy day to take the lead.

The Stratford grad jumped to 3 under early, but a bogey on nine set a tone for the back nine. He bogeyed 13, 17, and 18 to drop back.
