Henley slump continues
The momentum that followed Russell Henley from Friday to Saturday wasn’t good momentum.
Late flubs dropped Henley into a 2-over third round of the Truist Championship in Philadelphia, and into a tie for 58th in a 70-player field.
Henley had actually rebounded fairly well from Friday’s brutal 74, with a 1-under day through 16 holes.
And on No. 17, he was on target for at least a par with an 13-footer. But he missed for a bogey.
One hole left, and it got worse. He went from fairway to bunker to green, and stunningly three-putted from inside 13 feet for a double bogey, his second in two days.
The 146 of the last two days is Henley’s second-worst two-round run of the year, one worse than his 147 while missing the cut at the Masters and in the third and fourth rounds at the Genesis Invitational.
