The teams traded 2-run innings in the first and fifth innings, Frederica taking the lead in the top of the sixth with a solo homer. Lane Rhodes had 2 of JMA’s 5 hits, from the ninth spot. Kolt McMichael went the distance and allowed four hits, to go with four strikeouts and four walks, two of the runs unearned. Frederica put together a single, hit batter, walk, and then an error for the two runs in the first. One of JMA’s runs was unearned. The Trojans threatened in the bottom of the seventh, Rhodes opening with a single, then McMichael walking two outs later, but the game ended on a groundout to second.
The nightcap was a scoreless battle of pitchers through four innings, then Frederica put together a pair of 2-run innings. An error helped keep alive the fourth-inning rally. JMA was held to 4 hits.
