Henley off to decent start at BMW
A few birdies on the back nine lifted Russell Henley to an under-par first round Thursday of the BMW Championship.
Henley was even after nine, bogeying No. 6 and birdying No. 7. He followed a bogey on No. 13 with birdies on No. 14 and 16, for a 1-under 69.
That lumped him with Hideki Matsuyama and Bud Cauley in a tie for 12th, seven shots back of leader Robert MacIntyre.
Henley’s second shot on par-3 6 was off target, and he just missed an 8-footer for par. He three-putted No. 13, another par 3.
He followed a nice approach with an 8-foot birdie on 7, and repeated that on 14 with a 23-footer for birdie and on 16 with a 12-footer.
Henley tees off at 1:37 p.m. on Friday.
