Vine-Ingle strong in Junior LL World Series opener
Macon broke a scoreless tie with 3 in the fourth and 4 in the fifth and held off Michigan’s late rally for a 7-4 win Monday in the Junior Little League World Series..
Kaiden Harvey and Cole Johnson singled and advanced on a wild pitch to get the fourth inning going, Charlie Kemp walking to load the bases. A run came in on Jayden Cannon’s fielder’s choice grounder, which he reached first on.
Brady Molton drew a bases loaded walk for a run, and two outs later, Kemp came in on a wild pitch.
Vine-Ingle then combined a walk, single, double, error, and two wild pitches for 4 in the fifth, all with two outs.
Michigan – which beat Southwest 3-0 Sunday in its opener - battled back with 4 in the top of the seventh, but reliever Brady Molton got a strikeout to end it with the bases loaded.
Harvey had 2 of Macon’s 5 hits and drove in 2 runs, Vine-Ingle getting stolen bases from Micah Harris, Cole Johnson, Charlie Kemp, Jaxson Jones, 3 from Harvey
Jayden Cannon went 5.1 innings and struck out 12 with 4 walks and 2 hits. Kemp, Jaiden Center, and Molton finished it off.
Macon takes on the Central region (Illinois), which is 1-1 after losing 7-6 Monday to the East, on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
