Vine-Ingle in World Series action today

The home team is up next for Macon’s Vine-Ingle Little league in the Junior Little League World Series in Michigan.

The JLLWS welcomes six U.S. and six international teams. Vine-Ingle is joined by taems from River Forest, Ill,. Wilmington, Del., Needville, Texas, Santa Rosa, Calif., and the hosts from Taylor.

International teams are from Asia-Pacific, Australia, Canada, Europe-Africa, Latin America, and Puerto Rico.

Vine-Ingle had a bye on Sunday, and got to watch the battle between host Michigan and Texas. Michigan won 3-0.

The Michigan team is the actual host team, Taylor. And the teams go at it Monday at 2 p.m.

Games will be on ESPN Plus.

Asia-Pacific beat Michigan 5-0 in last year’s championship. Tampa represented the Southeast last year.

Vine-Ingle’s 13U team made the Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series last year, going 2-2.

Vine-Ingle left Friday and flew to Detroit, then took a short bus ride to the Taylor community, about 20 miles from downtown Detroit and in the flight path of Detroit Metropolitan/Wayne County Airport.

Taylor has been the host since the early 1980s. The games are at Heritage Park, in a complex that hosts the Taylor South Little League and appears a chunk smaller than the Little League South Regional headquarters in Warner Robins.

This year’s team consists of players from ACE Charter, Tattnall, Stratford, FPD, and Northeast, and is basically the same group that competed in California last year.

Alumni Update

Wilkinson County’s Grable among HBCU players on Shrine Bowl 1000, with two more Central Georgians

Former Wilkinson County standout Ashton Grable is in good company on the Shrine Bowll 1000 list.

He is one of five HBCU players on the list.

Grable is a main cog in Florida A&M’s offensive line. The 6-4, 315-pounder transferred from Jacksonville State was a preseason All-Southwest Athletic Conference pick in 2024, an honor he has repeated for 2025, after earning second-team postseason honors in 2023.

Lamar County’s CJ Allen, Putnam County’s Jalon Kilgore are also on the list.
