Henley closes American Express strong
An early bogey didnāt get in the way of Russell Henley making a little move in the final round of the American Express.
Henleyās 5-under 67 lifted him seven spots and into a top 10 finish, increasing his payday by about $80,000.
His 21-under 267 was good for a tie for eighth, six shots behind winner Scottie Scheffler, and a paycheck of $250,700.
His 12-footer on No. 3 left him a foot short, for his only bogey of the day. He reeled off six birdies in a 12-hole surge, ending the day by burying a 26-footer for a birdie. Along the way, he drained birdie putts of 18 feet and 15 feet earlier.
Henley was third in shots gained/approach to green, tied for 10th in shots gained total, tied for 12th in driving accuracy, and tied for 18th in greens in regulation.
Heās off this week for the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, but is set for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am Feb. 12-15.
