HS FB: Northside wins late; Lassiter now atop the Bleckley County list; shutouts for Northeast, Hawkinsville

Some schools failed to adjust their schedule and put the game on MaxPreps for Thursday, eliminating the chance for gaining information. MaxPreps Scoretracker info was available from Houston County and Northeast.
Class 6A
Lee County 49, Veterans 0
The second-ranked hosts (6-1/2-1) barged out to a 35-0 halftime lead, shutting out the Warhawks (4-3/1-2) for the first time in five meetings.
Thomas County Central 43, Houston County 3
Down three touchdowns heading into the second quarter, Houston County (3-3/1-1) got on the board with a booming Harrison Ludwig 49-yard field goal, but couldn’t manage anything after that. But top-ranked Thomas County Central (7-0/3-0) was held to its second-lowest point total of the season.
Northside 25, Tift County 24
The Eagles made the comeback tougher by missing conversions that left them down 14-13 and 21-19. But the defense forced a field goal, and Northside scored on the ground – again missing the conversion – for the lead in the final two minutes, and sealed it with a defensive stand in the final minute to spoil homecoming and improve to 3-3 and 1-1.
Class 4A
Peach County 54, Westside 14
The Trojans (7-0/4-0) led 14-0 with just less than 5 minutes left in the first quarter en route to a 33-14 halftime lead. Peach County cracked the 50-point mark for the fourth time this season, and won by 35 points for the fourth time.
Class 3A
Northeast 42, Central 0
It took a little bit for Northeast (6-1/4-0) to get going, but the Raiders did that with a 21-point second quarter for a 28-0 halftime lead. Jaiden Center’s 20-yard run got Northeast on the board late in the first quarter. Jordan Wiggins hit Scottavian Thomas for a TD pass of more than 30 yards early in the second quarter, Ke’Elle Searcy going in from short yardage past the halfway point of the quarter. Wiggins and Thomas connected again in the final minute of the half en route to second shutout of the season, putting them three short of last year’s 13-game total.
Hephzibah 42, Washington County 35, OT
The hosts (6-1/3-0) beat the Golden Hawks (3-4/2-1) for the second time in 11 meetings.

Von Lassiter didn’t have to sweat much en route to becoming Bleckley County’s winningest coach. He passed Jimmy Kilpatrick, who went 74-71-1 from 1977-90, a 14-season span. Lassiter is in his 10th at his alma mater, and of the five coaches with at least five seasons at Bleckley County (6-1/2-1), he’s also the program’s most successful head coach, winning 66.96 percent of the time.
Class A
Hawkinsville 28, Wilcox County 0
Hawkinsville (4-3/3-0) picked up its first shutout since beating Telfair County 19-0 a year and a day ago, improving to 4-3 and 3-0.
