Henley closes strong at Pebble Beach
Russell Henley saved the best for last, sort of.
His 5-under 67 was his second-best round of four at Pebble Beach, and he went out in style with an eagle on the par-5 18.
That put Henley at 273 for the weekend, 15 under par and seven shots back of winner Collin Morikawa.
Henley was hot early and warm all day long.
After a couple pars to start, Henley ripped off five birdies in six holes before two bogeys in three.
A run of par was interrupted on No. 18 by Henley’s first eagle of the season. He went 310 yards off the tee, then sent his second shot 211 yards into the right rough.
His shot of the weekend followed when he dropped the 29-footer into the cup for a remarkable and rare eagle.
Now at 25th in the FedEx Cup rankings and sixth in the Official World Golf Ranking, Henley is set for this week’s Genesis Invitational, a Signature Event at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades in California.
