GCSU to host Return of Champions Weekend for basketball this Saturday

GIAA state basketball tournament starts Tuesday

Six girls and five boys teams from Central Georgia are in first-round action in the GIAA state basketball tournament while four more have first-round byes.

Girls play begins Tuesday and boys on Wednesday.

Girls Class AA champ Central Fellowship has a first-round bye, while 3A runner-up John Milledge is at home on Tuesday.

They’re the only Central Georgia finalists from last year. Piedmont in Class AA girls in 2024 is the last area state champ.

The brackets were released to the public on Monday.

The next round is at FPD, Tattnall, and Stratford, with girls on Friday and boys on Saturday. The semifinals and finals are at Columbus State.
