Good Sunday, good payday for Henley
Russell Henley turned in his best round of the year in the final round of the Travelers to take home a solid paycheck while getting back on track with solid play.
A bogey on No. 4 was the only blemish on a solid day of seven birdies that put Henley into a tie for 12th with Sam Burns, each taking a check of $445,000.
Henley’s 6-under was the fourth-best mark on Sunday, matched by five others. Collin Morikawa scorched the course with a 9-under 61 to finish third.
Henley finished in the top 10 in shots gained off the tee, driving accuracy, greens in regulation, sand saves, scrambling, and feet of putts made.
He doinked his second shot on the par-4 No. 5, going from the green to short rough, then going from 37 feet to less than four feet on the par try.
Henley rebounded immediately with birdies on two of the next three holes.
He’s off until mid-July and The British Open at Royal Birkdale.
