Henley takes baby step forward, drops a bit
Recent struggles off the tee returned to Russell Henley’s game, and he had a status-quo round Friday in the St. Jude Championship.
Henley improved by a stroke with an even-par today which dropped him into a tie for 45th with six others.
That group is a dozen shots back of leader Scottie Scheffler.
One common demoninator on Henley’s three bogeys was that he was in trouble from the start.
He went into the right bunker on par-3 No. 8, then missed a 9-footer for par. He struggled after making the left bunker on No. 13, just missing a 17-footer for par.
And he drove into the left rough on No. 17, a few inches off for par.
He couldn’t muster any momentum after birdis on 3 and 4, adding a birdie on 12 that he followed with a bogey.
Henley tees off at 9:35 a.m. with Tom Kim.
