          GMC stumbled in the third round of the national junior college golf tournament, albeit only into a tie for second. But the Bulldogs gave up a chunk of strokes and need to get them back in the final round.

Macon breaks losing streak

          A couple Central Georgia players came up big to lift Macon to a 3-2 win over Florence and break the Bacon’s three-game losing streak.

          Perry and Georgia College’s Cal Gentry reached on an error that brought in Kenton Crawford with the game-tying run in the bottom of the sixth. Mercer’s Brandon Michie brought home Gentry with the lead run.

          John Michael Bertrand and Logan Winder finished it off on the mound for Macon, which was outhit 9-3 and struck out three more times than the RedWolves.

          Macon is at Lexington County on Friday and back home for Florence on Saturday and then Savannah on Tuesday.

 

Baldwin grad and former Clemson women’s coach back on sideline

          Clemson let Baldwin alum Audra Smith go after the season, but she’s found another job and won’t have to move far.

 

 

Atlanta gets Chicago in round of 16

          Chicago visits Atlanta on Wednesday in USOC action.
