Savannah pitches its way past Macon
A day after the bats were in charge, pitching took over in Savannah’s 5-1 win over visiting Macon in Coastal Plain action.
A four-run sixth broke a 1-all tie and put the Bananas in control.
The teams combined for 17 hits, but also 20 left on base.
Nolan Daniel, a West Laurens alum, got the win for Savannah, his first of the season, with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings. Savannah struck out nine batters with three walks.
Jordan Rathbone had two of Macon’s nine hits.
The Bacon host Lexington County on Thursday.
