GMC JC falls to fourth in nationals
The Bulldogs had their best round of the week with a 299, but dropped to fourth in the national junior college golf tournament.
They’re two shots behind third place Delta College entering the final round, but despite the improvement, they slipped to fourth place and now trail third-place Delta College by two shots heading into the final round. Sandhills is 28 shots up on DuPage, 32 on GMC.
GMC’s Hayden Hardy – a Westfield grad and son of longtime Central Georgia boys basketball coach Brett Hardy - and Riley Campbell are tied for sixth and eighth, and Levi Gregg is tied for 11th.
Henley opens with up-and-down round
The start of the day wasn’t so hot, nor was the end of the day.
In between, so-so.
Russell Henley began and ended with a bogey, and was 2-under in between for an even first round of The Memorial in Ohio.
That was good enough for a tie for 23rd, with Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, Si Woo Kim, Gary Woodland, and Xander Schauffele, among others.
Henley followed the bogey on No. 1 with a birdie, which he repeated at 5-6. He improved to 2-under after 11, but bogeyed 14 and 18, just off on a pair of 12-footers for par.
He tees off at 10 a.m. with Matt Fitzpatrick.
