Class 4A/3A
John Milledge 31, Brentwood 28
The Trojans got revenge, barely, on the War Eagles, needing a game-winning pass of 13 yards from Lewis Chaney to cap a 12-0 fourth quarter comeback. John Milledge led 21-10 at halftime and 24-10 after a third-quarter field goal, but the AA War Eagles took the lead after Brayden Tyson’s 27-yard run (and the conversion) and Tristan Robinson’s 55-yard run. Cheney hit Bryce McDonel for a nearly 50-yard pass to set up their connection of 13 yards two plays later, aided by a defensive back who slipped, for the lead with 52 seconds left, ending a 6-play, 56 yard drive.
Brentwood took over on its 21 with 41 seconds left and crossed midfield. After some officiating confusion, a low snap led to a 7-yard loss. Brentwood used its final timeout with seven seconds left, the ball on JMA’s 49. The fourth-down pass was broken up with a second left. Asa Wall ran for 72 yards and Cheney completed 11 of 20 for 160 yards. John Milledge outgained Brentwood by a yard, 310-309.
Stratford 41, Brookstone 14 (Click here for full story)
Tyler Stephens ran for 215 yards and five touchdowns to lead Stratford in a battle of two of the state’s top GIAA teams. Stephens scored from 44 and 70 yards to go with two short-yardage touchdowns. The Eagles led 27-14 at halftime en route to improving to 5-0. Aaron Jefferson added 114 yards on 17 carries in helping hand Brookstone its first loss this season.
Westfield 33, FPD 22
Down 14-9 at halftime, FPD took the lead – for five minutes – on Major Simmons’ 12-yard run, the conversion pass failing. Westfield took advantage of a roughing-the-punter penalty and went ahead on Brock Johnson’s 2-yard run. A botched snap deep was recovered by Cameron Staines in the end zone for a 27-15 lead with 2:53 left in the third. The Hornets sealed the win, which evened the series at 20-20, with Brock Johnson’s 1-yard run with 6:40 left in the game.
FPD managed a Brady McHugh run with 4:16 remaining. Johnson and Jackson Hair each had 71 rushing yards for the Hornets, who went for 201 yards on 36 carries. Johnson hit on 13 of 18 passes for 125 yards, 81 going to Win Hoots. Westfield held FPD to 135 yards rushing on 26 carries – Simmons led with 59 yards – and a 7-of-19 passing night for 93 yards.
Class AA
Briarwood 34, Windsor 15

While Mount de Sales’ defense kept the Lancers in check, Harrell sealed it with a 27-yard scoring run in the third.
