HS FB: Macon County nips Taylor County; Peach County survives Mary Persons; Washington County puts up how many?; East Laurens surprises ACE; Gatewood gets OT road win, Brentwood OT road loss

Useable and fairly complete (names, likely accuracy, and some detail) information was available on MaxPreps’ Scoretracker feature from Houston County, Mary Persons, and only minimal info or names from Westfield, Brentwood, Windsor, Putnam County, Jasper County, Dodge County, Lamar County, and Veterans, among others. No information was available from a few dozen teams.

Class 6A
Houston County 56, Tift County 28
A 21-0 second quarter put the Bears in control en route to breaking a two-game losing streak. A short pass from Ryan Maxwell to Joshua Pettigrew got Houston County going in the second quarter, Austin Stinson adding an 11-yard run and then Maxwell hitting Messiah Holliday with the third score of the second quarter. Tift County got it within a score on a pass midway through the third only for Houston County to answer on another Maxwell-Pettigrew connection.
Thomas County Central 55, Veterans 12
Veterans got a bit of a moral victory, trailing only 7-6 after a quarter. The Yellow Jackets need a few minutes to get another score, en route to a 27-point second quarter.
Class 5A
Warner Robins 38, Locust Grove 0
The Demons were in control from the start in improving to 5-2 with their third straight win, by 40, 55, and 38 points. Warner Robins has scored 162 points in the last three games.
Jones County 65, Locust Grove 7
The Greyhounds had more points at halftime, 58, than it’s scored all of 2026, and every season dating back to a 62-0 win over Locust Grove in 2022. Jones County has given up 35 points in its four-game winning streak.

Class 4A
Peach County 29, Mary Persons 21
Mary Persons strolled into Fort Valley and gave the hosts some early smacks in the battle of top-10 teams, taking a 14-0 first quarter lead on two passes from Jordan Singleton to Mason Stephens, en route to a 21-10 halftime lead. The Trojans took the lead with two touchdowns – a pass and run – and two missed conversions. Peach County added some cushion early in the fourth on a run and made the PAT kick. The Bulldogs kept everybody stressed, taking over on the Peach County 42 after a defensive stand with 1:26 left. Quarterback Jordan Singleton scrambled the Bulldogs to a first and 10 at the 15 with 28 seconds left. He lost 5 yards, then ran for 10 yards. Mason Stephens caught a pass just out of the end zone on third and 5 at the 10, and then the Trojans knocked away a pass in the end zone to end the game.
Baldwin 26, Upson-Lee 0
Two Kam Patterson touchdown passes put the Braves up 14-0 early in the second quarter, Jerlioundus Armstrong adding a run late in the second quarter en route to a 20-0 halftime lead. The Knights suffered their third shutout of the season, while Baldwin evened the series at 3-3 with its first shutout since 57-0 over Hephzibah in 2024.
West Laurens 14, New Hampstead 7
The visitors battled and led 14-0 after three, New Hampstead getting on the board in the second half of the fourth the fourth quarter.

Class 3A
Pike County 35, Central 21
The Chargers got within a touchdown on Wyquavis Gaither’s 19-yard touchdown run with about four minutes left in the half, and tied it ona touchdown pass deep into the third quarter. Pike County got some cushion on a short TD run and clinched it with a touchdown pass three minutes into the fourth quarter.
Washington County 81, Cross Creek 0
The Golden Hawks came within 20 points of doubling their scoring total for the season.
Lamar County 49, Southwest 0
The Trojans were up 35-0 at halftime and were able to finish off their first shutout since 27-0 last year against Towers, and biggest shutout since 46-0 over Pike County in 2023.
Class AA
Bleckley County 42, Swainsboro 17
The game started out as the expected battle, the Royals leading 14-10 after one, taking the lead for good on Brody Fleming’s TD pass to Jason McNulty Jr. in the final three minutes of the half. The pair teamed up again with two minutes left in the half, and then the Royals added two third-quarter scores – one another Fleming-McNulty connection – to take control.
East Laurens 21, ACE 18 (Click here for complete story)
Tawan Horne grabbed a tipped pass by an ACE defender in the end zone to give East Laurens the lead with 2:16 left, and the Falcons survived two poor offensive possessions and then a late rally and short field goal attempt to upset the homestanding Gryphons.
Jasper County 59, Josey 0
The youngsters got plenty of action, Jasper County scoring 21 points in the first two quarters for a 42-0 halftime lead.
Putnam County 44, Jefferson County 14
The War Eagles led 17-14, and blew it open in the second half.
Dodge County 38, Vidalia 13
A 7-0 deficit after a quarter turned into a 28-7 halftime lead. Kain Mincey’s pass to Jordan Spady and Issac Murray’s PAT tied it early in the second quarter. The Indians got a rushing touchdown, and then another scoring pass, from Mincey to Jakavon Harris. A short rushing score with a few minutes left capped the first-half scoring.

Stratford 59, Frederica 0
Tucker Johnston’s sneak and Brady Flournoy’s recovery of a fumble in the end zone gave Stratford a 14-0 lead with 3:32 left in the first quarter. George Dunn drilled a 35-yard field goal early in the second quarter and Riland Jones followed six minutes laer with a 12-yard run. Tate Johnston closed out the first-half scoring with a 75-yard pick-6, for a 31-0 lead. It’s Stratford’s highest point total since a 58-7 win over Atkinson County in 2017.
John Milledge 31, FPD 7
The Trojans held the Vikings to 237 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown. Asa Wall scored on runs of 2, 19, and 31 yards for John Milledge, Jamel Cooper adding a 41-yarder and Allman Burrell a 45-yard field goal. Wall ran for 122 yards and Cooper 111, each on 8 carries. FPD got 76 rushing yards from Eli Rutherford.
Westfield 35, Tiftarea 15
The Hornets led 14-0 at halftime, and upped it to 35-7 after two touchdowns from Brock Johnson and one from Stone St. Clair.
Terrell 48, CFCA 7
Edmund Burke 37, Brentwood 36
The 48-minute battle as expected lasted a little bit longer after Edmund Burke won the fourth quarter 14-7, tying it in the final few minutes on a rushing touchdown. The Spartans scored on a run in overtime, and Brentwood answered with a passing touchwon, but the conversion failed.
Gatewood 27, Flint River 21, OT
The game was tight from the start, with 7 points being the biggest lead. Gatewood tied it with a few minutes left and won in overtime on Landon Moreno’s 20-yard run.
Piedmont, 1-3, at St. Andrews, 1-4
Windsor 55, Trinity Christian 7
The Knights started bring in fresh uniforms in the first half, taking a 35-7 lead into the locker room.
