The Bears’ won by the biggest margin in the series history, dating back to 1998. Houston County won its fourth straight over Northside to improve to 7-0 for the first time in program history. Jordan Smith dealt the first bruise by returning the opening kickoff 90 yards. Javien Durham added a rushing TD midway through the first quarter with Colin Anderson scoring only a few minutes later en route to a 35-0 halftime lead.

Thomas County Central 48, Veterans 0

The Yellow Jackets led 41-0 at halftime en route to Veterans’ first shutout of the season and Thomas County Central’s third.

Class 4A
Jones County 27, McDonough 24, OT
McDonough was forced to kick a field goal in overtime, and Jones County made it hurt when Kaden Canty went in from the 5 for the game-winner. The Greyhounds tied it in the third quarter on Deterrence Holloway’s long kickoff return and Cason Taylor’s conversion pass to Drew Williams.

Perry 38, Wayne County 0
Decorrion Daniels got Perry going with a short TD run four minutes into the game, adding another one early in the second quarter. Daniels ran for 96 yards on 16 carries, and Ginn was 9 of 16 for 113 yards. The Perry defense held Wayne County to 39 yards total offense on 43 plays, while Perry had 54 snaps and gained 308 yards.

Benedictine 61, Warner Robins 0
The Demons gave up more than 50 points since opening the 2016 season with a 55-3 loss to Northside, followed three games later by a 63-28 loss to Houston County. Class 3A
Peach County 52, Westover 20
Westover gave Peach County a first-half battle, trailing 31-20 at halftime, the Patriots scoring in the final minute, but the Trojans put it away with three scores in the third quarter, getting started with Ashton Barton’s 9-yard score four minutes into the quarter and adding a Zion Ellison run four minutes later.

Class A/Division I

Bleckley County 14, Northeast 13 (Click here for a full story)

Inconsistent kicking and 5-yard penalties haven’t gotten in Northeast’s way all season, but a missed partially-blocked PAT late in the first half and mistakes galore in the second half left the door open for Bleckley County. Northeast had plenty of chances to score, but often sabotaged itself. And the Royals took advantage. They tied it on Deondrez Robinson’s 44-yard touchdown run with 4:31 left in the game, game, and took the lead on the all-important kick, from Jonah Kelley.

There now four 5-1 teams in 2-A/Division I: Bleckley County (6-1), Dodge County (6-1), Dublin (5-2) and Northeast (5-2).

Dodge County 38, Washington County 19
The homestanding Indians marched out to a 24-6 halftime lead on, in part, a long Jeremiah Alston run, and two Kain Mincey TD passes to Jerimiah Burns

Dublin 42, ACE 27

The visiting Gryphons made Dublin sweat for a little while, taking a 13-7 lead on a 50-yard run by Ace Hatcher, and 7-yard pass from Hatcher to Brady Balckcom. The Irish answered with three touchdowns from three different players – Jamarcus Knight’s run, Will Wallace’s pass reception, and Trav Bostic’s run – for a 28-12 lead by the 9:17 mark of the third quarter. Hatcher’s 1-yard run got the Gryphons within 28-19 at the 4:55 mark of the third quarter, but neither team scored again until late, when they combined for three touchdowns in barely a minute, between 2:46 and 1:44 left.

Knight ran 15 times for 233 yards and three scores, Bostic adding 162 yards on 20 as part of Dublin’s 447-yard rushing attack. Hatcher had 84 yards on the ground, the Irish holding Bryson Vincent to 42 on 13.

East Laurens 14, Southwest 0
The Falcons turned in their second shutout of the year, both against Bibb County public schools (58-0 over Central in early September). A 6-0 lead stood until Norrion King’s punt return for a touchdown in the final three minutes. East Laurens took the lead on Jason Giles’ pass to Bryson Hazley midway through the first quarter. It’s the Falcons’ first win in six games against Southwest.

Lamar County 27, Towers 0
The Trojans got going on a short scoop and score from Jeremy Beach early in the second quarter, adding a 19-yard Josh McDade TD run en route to a 13-0 halftime lead. They added second-half touchdown runs from Josiah Chambers and Ross Hamrick to cinch Lamar County’s first shutout since thumping Crawford County 43-0 late in 2023.

Putnam County 48, Utopian Academy 0

Class A/Division II
GMC Prep 36, Glascock County 18
The Bulldogs are 2-0 in region play for the first time since 2021, avenging last year’s 50-14 loss.

Wilkinson County 56, Hancock Central 28
The Warriors cracked 50 points for the second straight week. Hancock Central gave up 50 for the first time since Warren County’s 50-8 win in 2019.

Wilcox County 28, Hawkinsville 23
A 21-9 second quarter put Wilcox County in control. The teams scored 7 each in the third and Hawkinsville rallied with a score early in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t convert a fumble recovery and other possessions, throwing a late interception and then losing a fumble.

Crawford County 41 Marion County 20

Taylor County 36, Schley County 23

Mount de Sales 10, Tattnall 0
The Cavs sent Tattnall a step closer to an 0-10 season with their first shutout over the Trojans since a 29-0 win to open the 1981 season. Mount de Sales recorded its first shutout since 35-0 over Twiggs County in 2018. Johnson ran it to the 4, spiked it with 34 seconds left, and then went left for the score with 28 seconds left.

Class AA

Brentwood 35, Edmund Burke 7
The War Eagles took awhile to get going, not getting a score until the final two minutes of the first quarter, on Baylor Cobb’s 9-yard score. He passed to Abe Williams for another score midway through the second quarter to get Brentwood going. Cobb connected with Zyion Andrews late in the second for a 21-0 halftime lead.
