The upstarts from Howard never went away, holding Mary Persons scoreless through the third and fourth quarters while tying it with 7:30 left in regulation when Zavion DeShazier kept it from inside the 5, and Howard made the conversion. The Huskies had a chance to win it in the final seconds left when DeShazier’s pass at the goal line was almost caught in traffic by Dre Christian. Mary Persons needed 3 plays to score in overtime, quarterback Jordan Singleton keeping it around the left side from 9 yards out, Thomas Kime adding the PAT. The Huskies faced fourth and goal at the 5 after DeShazier lost 2 on third down. Mary Persons’ Braylen Perry made a great play on the ball on a pass to Christian in the left side of the end zone, knocking it away to preserve the win. It was tied at 7 when Singleton hit Marcus Francis with a short pass for a 14-7 lead. Howard answered on a highlight-reed TD catch from Ta’Shawn Poole with 7:38 left in the  half, TD pass, but missed the PAT. Class AA

No. 3 Dublin 60, ACE 14
Dublin packed a hammer and used it early, storming out to a 27-0 first quarter lead that was 41-7 at halftime. Early on, things looked pretty even, until the Irish reeled off 3 touchdowns in 2 minutes: a 2-yard run from Jayden McRae, a 43-yarder from Jamarcus Knight, and then a 16-yarder from Travion Bostic. That put Dublin up 21-0 with 6:09 left in the first. Two touchdowns later, ACE broke the shutout on  21-yard pass from Ace Hatcher to Jaylon Davis, but Dublin answered immediately with a 96-yard kickoff return from Knight. ACE had the ball more, running almost twice many plays, but couldn’t convert it into many points, Dublin adding a 47-yard pick-6 from Knight late in the first half. The Irish had a 251-137 total offense advantage but held the ball half the time.

Bleckley County 28, Dodge County 21
The 51st meeting lived up to expectations. Dodge County could never get the lead, and Bleckley County couldn’t get more than a one-score advantage. No team led by more than a score. Most of the scores were fairly short yardage to end grinding drives. Undermanned Dodge County tied it at 21 on Aamaury Fountain’s score – his second - from inside the 10 about four minutes into the final quarter. QB Brody Fleming kept it from the 4 with 6:53 left in the game to put the Royals back on top. The Royals got a defensive stand, and were able to pretty much kill the clock.
